You are invited to join the Board of Ireland Park Foundation for a special evening featuring Dr. Emily Mark-Fitzgerald, accomplished lecturer and celebrated author. In her new book, Commemorating the Irish Famine; Memory and the Monument, Dr. Mark-Fitzgerald writes of how the famine has been visually commemorated, explores themes of identity and representation as it relates to the famine, and looks at famine memorials around the world. Dr. Mark-Fitzgerald will speak about her experience researching the book and the cultural and social significance of creating an enduring memory of the Irish Famine through monuments, public spaces and landmarks.
